I have a calendar component I wrote in live wire. When you click on the dates it worked really fast on my local system but on the live server (staging and live) it was really slow.
Even with no models being loaded and returning dummy date from hard coded arrays.
Lots of sniffing about and searching the internet. This improved things dramatically. Nothing else made a difference.
